Well, I tried!
I called round for him, but he was just on his way to his home village to visit his (non JW) family.
I'll try again tomorrow. Best not take him to the 'cabaret club' though - that would be a step too far!
Thanks for the replies.
i've posted about this before, and my earlier posts will clarify this.. i've explained to my neighbours why i (as an atheist) am bad association for my my jw neighbours.
i've explained that to them as well, and on my third and last visit to a kh with them (for memorial service?
) i wore my fbi polo shirt and afterwards went outside for a cigarette.. pregnant jw mum and the kids (6 and 3) have just left to visit her (jw) family in sweden.

Thanks, Ian!
This is a very current question, 'cos in half an hour Liverpool -v-v Chelsea is on!
I will call and ask my friend to come out, watch the game and have a couple of beers.
Cheers!

Pregnant JW mum and the kids (6 and 3) have just left to visit her (JW) family in Sweden. Imagine my surprise when Dad (left behind, can't go for work reasons) called at my apartment with an assortment of WTs and Awakes. What we actually talked about was that he was fed up with his sh*t job (his words). He was out 'in service' (I know 'cos I commented on his clothes - a dress shirt and long trousers, when here right now most of us (including him) wear T shirt and shorts) and I was his last call.
He will be lonely for the next 2 weeks or so. I have a fairly good circuit of bars and restaurants (I live a bit of a hedonistic lifestyle). He is not theologically opposed to a beer, a meal out, etc.
Should I take the opportunity to reinforce that all of us worldly bad association people are not from the devil? I am conscious that if he has a couple of good weeks his wife (who is a multi-generation JW) may get a little cheesed off when she gets home.
this doctrine/law is really troubling me.
i hated it when i was in and after examining it in my mind and speaking with current jw`s i am sure that it is an identifying mark of a cult.
i never really liked to call it a cult, even after i left, but the behaviour of jw`s in this area just bewilders me.
I can only comment on this as a not/never have been a JW. I am divorced, have 2 adult children, have brothers and sisters.
As far as my son and daughter are concerned, nothing but nothing would interfere with my unconditional love for them. Although I now live 2000 miles from them and the rest of my family, one phone call would have me on the next plane and doing what I could. If I turned up at the doorstep of any of my family, or of a close friend, I know I would be welcomed, could stay as long as I liked, etc. They know the same.
That is also true of my ex. (Well, not entirely,'cos her current boyfriend wouldn't be too pleased). But if she or I needed help, we would be there for each other. This has been tested in the past and is true.
'Shunning' or whatever name you want to call it is not natural, is not loving, and my personal view is that if us 'worldly' people can achieve more or less unconditional love the fact that 'loving Christian' peple can't is an indictment on them.

from seeing so many divorces and hurt that people go through, i am wanting to share with you things that have read and is still helping me today.
this is for anyone that is hurting or needs to "self-improve" themselves.
even if you're not going through a divorce or losing a partner, you may be able to find some information to help you in dealing with the loss of the religion that we all thought was the "only right one".
FF: I don't want to post too much on here right now.
I went through a divorce about 4 years ago after 23 years of marriage. The divorce came as a bit of a surprise to me.
But - best wishes to you. This is a particularly shitty time for you I'm sure. There is life after it, I know, and if you want to PM me I'd be happy to share my thoughts and experiences.
Good luck.

Well, I can reveal that it's not a date as such, more as friends - in a couple of weeks a lady from the board and myself are going on a foreign trip together for a couple of weeks. It will be the first time we've met.

Well, as I really AM in Cyprus, my chances of a date are a bit slim.
But I'm with you in spirit!

OK, put me on the list.
But you'll have to allow me some travelling time!
